Our Approach
Reggio Emilia Approach
The Reggio Emilia approach is based on the philosophy of an image of a child. All children are viewed as full of potential, with an innate sense of curiosity and endless imagination. They are creative, capable of constructing their own learning and have a natural interest to explore while following their own interests, staying connected with others. Adults nurture their learning by providing a rich environment and support. One day our small researchers and explorers will grow into big inventors and great explorers.

We believe in the rights and opinions of each child. Every child is a competent, capable and natural curious being with the desire for knowledge and life and is always ready for challenges.
Stimulative Environment
With the mission to promote children’s rights in education and the inspiration from the Reggio Emilia approach, we emphasize the role of the environment as a third teacher and build a community by providing a borderless learning space and maintaining our school environment with a 1 to 1 ratio of learning and play area. By using natural materials and natural lights, we promote learning, physical development and exploring the world. We nurture a sense of respect between individuals as well as the environment by promoting sustainability and creativity in our learning space.
Role of Teachers
Teachers at Imperial are advocates for children. They take many roles in the learning process:
Observers - we observe carefully what children do;
Listeners - we listen carefully to what children say;
Collaborators - we work with children to achieve their goals;
Researchers - we learn how children learn;
Co-learners - we are companions in the child’s own journey of discovery;
Co-constructors - we construct knowledge with children;
Evaluators - we reflect with children on our achievement; and
Documenters - we make learning visible to children and parents.
Teachers also promote partnership with the family, which allows children to continue to be researchers, risk-takers and explorers after the lessons.
Parent Involvement
Parents are valued as participants in their children’s growing and learning process. Their trust and support gives their children a sense of security and is deeply appreciated.
